As an anchor institution in downtown Indianapolis, IUPUI expands career options and earning power through education to improve the quality of life in the city, region and state. Also key to our community’s growth is urban sustainability - looking at intertwined issues of environmental protection, economic viability, and social equity - a cornerstone of our campus’s engagement with the community.
The IUPUI Center for Earth and Environmental Sciences (CEES) research and outreach programs have a focus in central Indiana with collaborations and implementations at the local, state, national and international levels. These programs are designed to raise awareness of opportunities for sustainable interactions with the environment by highlighting the sensitivities and interconnectedness of our natural surroundings and the importance they have for our well-being.
The partnership of IUPUI with Bethel AME Church helps preserve artifacts that enable millennials to connect with voices of ancestry from centuries past. Technology will create a glimpse of African American life in Indianapolis back in the 1960s, 50s, 40s, 30s and beyond.
As the Graduate Assistant for Leadership Development and Civic Engagement in the Campus Center and Student Experiences office, Jessica Davis is taking the lead on planning a number of events and efforts to engage IUPUI students in the political process.
