Teresa Francis is the Senior Communications Manager for the Indiana University Indianapolis Office of Workforce and Community Engagement, where she leads strategic communications that elevate the university’s workforce initiatives, employer partnerships, and community engagement efforts. She oversees integrated communications across digital and print platforms—including websites, newsletters, social media, video, and publications—ensuring clear, consistent messaging that connects external audiences to the university’s mission and impact.
In her role, Teresa serves as a strategic advisor on messaging, positioning, and content development, translating complex initiatives into accessible, audience-focused communications. She leads content strategy and storytelling that highlight student pathways, employer engagement, and community impact, while guiding the office’s digital presence as a primary “front door” for partners and stakeholders.
Teresa holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in Communication from the IU School of Liberal Arts, as well as a Master of Science in Media Arts and Science from the IU Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering. Her work blends communication strategy, creative design, and storytelling with a passion for community engagement and the arts.
As the former Marketing Director for the OnyxFest theater festival, sponsored by IU Indianapolis, Teresa helped elevate the program’s visibility through creative promotion, outreach, and storytelling that centered diverse artistic voices and theatrical expression.
A multifaceted creative, Teresa is also a videographer, editor, graphic designer, actress, producer, and script supervisor. Her credits include The Camp, Home Before the Holiday, Voices of Indiana Avenue at the District Theatre, and the short film LadyBug, which has been featured at film festivals internationally.
Outside of her professional and creative work, Teresa is active in her church community, serving on the broadcast team and participating in music ministry, outreach, and fundraising efforts. Whether through media, ministry, or the arts, she is committed to using her voice and talents to uplift others and share stories that matter.
